This mask represents nature spirits and is worn in funeral dances or in ceremonies honoring important individuals. It may be worn by a single dancer, or by a member of a group of dancers wearing other masks.
Cowrie shells, so valued they once were used as money, cover the surface. Features of different animals add strength to the mask. Find the symbol for the trunk of an elephant, parrot feathers, and monkey and leopard fur.
